Privacy Policy
Capital Bar Tour (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a self-guided bar-crawl experience operated by Epic Hospitality in Wellington, New Zealand. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and your choices. The app is intended for adults aged 18 and over only.
Information we collect
- Account details. Your email address, used to create and secure your account.
- Profile & gameplay data. Your display name, mission progress, scores, leaderboard standing, and feed posts.
- Photos and videos. Media you submit to complete challenges. This is stored privately, is accessible only via short-lived secure links, and is automatically deleted after 30 days.
- Approximate location. If you tap for directions, the app reads your device location in the browser only to show your position on the map. This location is used on your device and is not stored on our servers or shared.
- Payment information. Ticket payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card details.
How we use your information
- To run the game — join sessions, unlock and validate challenges, and rank the leaderboard.
- To score and safety-check submitted media. Photos and videos are sent to trusted AI providers (Google Gemini and Anthropic) for automated scoring and to detect objectionable content, and may be reviewed by participating bar staff to validate a completed challenge.
- To operate, secure, and improve the app.
Service providers we share data with
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with providers that help us run the app:
- Supabase — secure hosting of your account, gameplay data, and media.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Google (Maps & Gemini) — map display and automated media scoring.
- Anthropic — automated media scoring and safety review.
Data retention
Submitted photos and videos are automatically deleted 30 days after upload. Account and gameplay data are kept while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time (see Contact).
Security
All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Uploaded media is stored in a private location and served only through expiring secure links.
Age requirement
Capital Bar Tour is for people aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Your choices and rights
- Request a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it.
- Withdraw participation by deleting your account.
- Decline the location prompt — the rest of the app still works.
